Opening ceremony

On the day of the anniversary (29th March 2016) The Fenice Opera House will host an official ceremony, organized in collaboration with La Fenice, UCEi (Union of Italian Jewish Communities) and with the support of the World Jewish Congress and of the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage (AEPJ), in the presence of international personalities and Jewish leaders.

This event will officially mark the quincentennial and will be used as the major platform for the dissemination of the messages of peace and dialogue connected to the anniversary.

Keynote speaker at the event will be British historian Simon Schama.

The Committee for the 500 Years of the Ghetto and La Fenice have agreed to invite conductor Omer Wellber to lead the Fenice symphony orchestra. Program: Gustav Mahler, Symphony n. 1 in C Major.

The evening is for invites only. Tickets are not on sale but can be requested at (subject to availability).
